Riding opportunities accepted on a first come first served basis. 

Riders per session is limited.  Every effort will be made to schedule a rider in one of their top three choices. 


Horses will be provided.

Everyone attending Riding Clinic must pay participant fee or auditor fee in order to attend. 


Refund Policy:  Cancellations must be made in writing no later than January 10, 2020.  No refunds will be issued on cancellations received after this date, or for clinic no-shows.  Refunds will not be processed until after the conference.

Riding With The Legends Riding Clinic: UPDATE


Thank you for your interest in The UPHA Riding with the Legends Clinic.  The participant sessions are currently full.  We are working on assigning participants to sessions.  Auditor opportunities are still available.  As an auditor you are able to attend to observe and listen to all sessions featuring the talent and knowledge of our UPHA Helen Crabtree Hall of Fame Instructors.

We have established a waiting list that will be used if an opportunity for a rider/driver opens up.  If you are interested in being on the waiting list please email Jennifer Mellenkamp at jmellenkamp@uphaonline.com.  Do not call the office, the information is only accepted by email!  The following information must be submitted in order to be placed on the waiting list.

Fundamentals of Driving with Fran and Kim Crumpler

Throughout their careers, Fran and Kim have trained and instructed many drivers and riders. This is an opportunity to learn and perfect new diving techniques and strategies. Whether you drive a road horse or a pleasure horse, they can help you become a more skilled driver.


Lunge Lessons with Lillian Shively

For years, Lillian has used Lunge Lessons to strengthen her juvenile and amateur riders. Participate in the unique opportunity to work on your core strength and riding position with Lillian one on one.


Perfecting Patterns with Nancy Becker and Lillian Shively

Nancy and Lillian will offer insight on difficult elements. They will give instruction and pointers on how to perform the patterns the very best way possible. Learn what it takes to execute patterns at the highest level.


Riding in the Box with Jo Cornell

Over her years of teaching, Jo came up with an exercise that requires the riders to ride their horse in a square. It teaches riders to position their body and their horse’s body in order to be able to perform any gait at any time. It helps improve timing and feel.


Riding Through Proper Form and Feel with Cindy Zubrod

Cindy has spent her career teaching and training riders in performance and equitation. Learn and feel how a proper riding position influences how a horse performs. Not only does it teach better balance, it allows the rider to help their horse maximize their performance


Show Rider Ringmanship with Jane Bennett and Renee Biggins

Learn to master your show ring strategies. Jane and Renee will work with the group to learn about spacing, setting up passes and good use of your arena. A well planned and executed ride helps maximize your horse’s performance.


Sharpen Your Riding Skills and Techniques with Lynda Freseth, Marilyn Macfarlane and Gary Garone

Riders have the chance to build on the skills as a show rider. Riders will learn skills to navigate the show ring and gain confidence in competition.
