UPHA NATIONAL CONFERENCE SUCCESSFULLY UNITES OUR INDUSTRY
(Palm Springs, CA) The 2019 UPHA National Conference concluded on January 19 with a spirit of unity and purpose that left attendees optimistic and excited for the coming season and the future of our industry. AHHS, ARHPA,ASB Museum,ASHA,ASR, the and UPHA hosted meetings and forums on various topics of concern to our collective memberships. Many of the forums and meetings were attended by leadership and general membership from AMHA as well.Of great consequence was the formation of an ad hoc committee with representation for all our organizations that will give us one strong voice in discussions and negotiations with USEF aimed at achieving better relations and better governance from our national governing body. Should those negotiations fail to bear fruit, the unified committee and the leadership of our respective organizations are committed to exploring and developing options for improved governance.
In addition to many productive board and committee meetings, and grand awards banquets recognizing people and horses that have achieved excellence in the sport, the Conference offered a wide array of forums that were engaging and well attended.
UPHA produced terrific forums on breeding, and creating a profitable business model for trainers and equitation instructors. The USEF Safe Sport mandate,The State of Our Industry and Horse Shows,UPHA Equitation Forum, ASHA Riding Program Council and ASHA Strategic Planning Breakout Sessions achieved great interaction with members and impressed attendees as highly informative and useful.
Attendees enjoyed gracious hospitality in Palm Springs, as Carson Kressley hosted a fabulous cocktail party Friday night and Hall Of Fame jockey Mike Smith captivated the Thursday night audience with his genuine and relatable discussion of his career and topical issues in the industry. It is up to our entire sport to work together and use the momentum generated in Palm Springs to better our industry and promote our sport as we move forward towards the 2019 season.
