UPHA TRAINERS EQUITATION CHALLENGE
Specifications
The UPHA Trainer’s Equitation Challenge class is to be exhibited by professionals riding any breed. It will be judged at a walk, trot, and in canter both directions of the ring and include an individual workout. The workout will be posted in the horse show office one hour before the session starts. It will not include riding without stirrups. Each exhibitor must provide their own horse and wear a riding habit. Entries may be shown with or without a brace. This is an exhibition class, fundraiser, and non-USEF rated.
When/Where
The class will be held following the final class on Thursday evening of the 2024 UPHA/American Royal National Championship. The event will be held with the exhibitor’s party.
Entry Fee
$200.00 -The horse show will accept entries through the normal entry process. All funds raised through entry fees will go to the UPHA/American Royal National Championship.
Judging/Fundraising
The judges will place the class first through eighth place, and the crowd favorite will be determined by the professional that raises the
largest amount of funds through the online program https://www.givesignup.org/Race/MO/KansasCity/UPHATrainersEquitation
This fundraiser supports the UPHA Ribbons of Service program and the UPHA Young Professionals fund. Ninety percent of donations raised will support the UPHA Ribbons of Service program, specifically benefiting St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The remaining 10% will be used for the UPHA Young Professionals initiatives.
*Any participant who raises $1,000 or more can select a song to be played during their workout*
Prize Money
Ribbons will be awarded first through eighth place, along with a total of $9,500 in prize money. The breakdown of prize money is as follows: Champion $3,000, Reserve Champion $2,000, 3rd $1,500, 4th $1,000, 5th $500, 6th $500, 7th $250, 8th $250. In addition, the rider who raises the most donations will receive $500 in prize money, a complimentary entry in the online auction, Sold by Sunday, and a $400 gift certificate from Bowman Show Harness.
