RIBBONS OF SERVICE

What is UPHA Ribbons Of Service?

Ribbons of Service is a program through which UPHA youth members "ride for the cure" by raising funds for the patients and families of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or an approved non-profit charity. It is open to all youth members who compete in equestrian competitions in the American Saddlebred, Arabian, Half-Arabian, Morgan, National Show Horse, Hackney Pony, Saddle Seat Equitation divisions, Academy and the Exceptional Challenge Cup. Participants in the UPHA Ribbons of Service program have raised thousands of dollars each year for St. Jude and other charities. The program was developed to teach youth members the importance of community service by donating their time to those in need. Through this program, kids learn the value of helping those less fortunate.

How does UPHA Ribbons Of Service work?

Each participating rider is responsible for raising donations and performing community service as part of his or her own contribution to the effort. Fundraising begins on November 1 and continues through October 31 of the following year. Participants contact individuals, companies or organizations that may share an interest in the exhibitor’s commitment to service. However, UPHA Ribbons of Service is about more than raising money. It is also about involving young people in hands-on service to benefit their local communities. Participants are encouraged to submit all donations, volunteer hours and contribution forms to the UPHA office on a monthly basis. All donations must be made payable to UPHA Foundation, Inc., which is a 501(c)(3) organization, and contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

How do I enroll?

UPHA youth members (age 21 or under) may enroll in the program by submitting a UPHA Ribbons of Service application to the UPHA office. A welcome letter will be emailed along with a packet of information. Participants have until October 31 to fundraise and complete their community service hours.

Participation Levels!

Participation levels have been developed to reward participants with gifts and recognition for completing community service hours and collecting donations for their approved nonprofit charity. Participants will receive a package from UPHA upon completion of each level to encourage them to continue on to the next level.

Thank you to our donors for the fabulous prizes!
